I am shocked and amazed

I'm a regular reader and would like to think a semi-regular poster in the Etsy forums. Lately, though, I'm reevaluating the intelligence of participating there.

No, the world is not all rainbows and butterflies, but the negativity in the threads is becoming overbearing and ridiculous. And not just the "oh woe is me, why aren't people buying?" but the level of rudeness and closemindedness is unreal.

Vintage is allowed. Get over it. Supplies are allowed. Get over it. And yes, psychic or tarot readings are allowed as long as a handmade chart or something equivelent is mailed to the buyer....so says the admin. Get over it.

What is it so hard to understand? Why does it have to be a battle of who thinks who has more right to sell on Etsy? It doesn't matter if you agree or not...if ETSY says it's ok, it's ok. I'd prefer Etsy only let open-minded, NICE people sell, but it's not my call, is it?

And while I'm on a roll with the complaining, I'm so sick of reading "you're calling out" to almost every question a seller asks...even when there isn't a specific buyer, seller, name, item referred to. Someone used the term Hall Monitor today and it is so fitting for a few people.

Hi There! I can't remember exactly how I stumbled upon your blog, but I love it AND your Etsy shop. I saw this post and thought..."oh heck yeah, I am SO commenting on this!"

I have to say that I agree with you 110%! I'm a semi-reg poster in the forums as well, but lately I've drawn back a little. You are so right about them. Just nasty nasty! And it drives me crazy and makes me a little sad to know that there are newbies looking around in there FOR HELP and the bickering and snide remarks are all they see. Its sad to say the least.

In my opinion, you can find anything you want to know about Etsy if you just read the Storque and the Do's and Don'ts. Its all right there. All of it. I rarely went into the forums when I was gettin ready to open. This will never ever happen, but I think they should either scale back the forums or do away with them completely. Just my opinion...

Anyway, I wanted to pop in and say Hi and I love love love your shop!!
Have a great weekend :o)

Yeah, a good point you brought up here...I really dont spend any time in the forums for precisely this reason..its just juvenile!

I comment on my team threads now and again, where we are all amongst friends, but other than that I stay away. I have spent most of my adult life avoiding groups of females with attittudes, and Im not about to join one on the forums!! (okay I know there are some men there too, lol)

The nice thing is, customers are still delightful on Etsy- even with the occasional foible, its still SOOooooOOOO much better than eBay:)

I am right there with you. I lurked and learned a lot when I first joined Etsy but now it seems as if there is nothing there that teaches or interests me. I keep up now by following blogs like UEN and EtsyBitch and of course this one. ;)
