My head is about to explode and have not come to lower prices, only if I work for free.Sandra Rosahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03122005051845431542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4019901453065101419.post-54963218445642327032010-02-10T19:58:43.903-05:002010-02-10T19:58:43.903-05:00Great post.. can be applied to all types of wholes...Great post.. can be applied to all types of wholesale!LEFTZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17170893468377216998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4019901453065101419.post-74152850526211210292010-02-10T09:34:54.802-05:002010-02-10T09:34:54.802-05:00@Laura,

Granted, how I do it will not work for everyone, mostly because I don't factor time into my calculations.

I use a dreaded formula - and I say dreaded somewhat tongue in cheek because that's an entirely different argument in the forums. Should you or should you not use one, and how accurate they are.

@Sugar Plum.. Honestly, I think $25 an hour is fine - on some things. I don't believe people should underpay themselves..but I do believe that each of us has to find a reasonable balance between how much we get paid for our time and how much we can charge and still have buyers.

I know nothing of knitting, so think about it this way... Say you want to get paid $25 an hour for your time.

If you can knit the body of the cardigan while you're watching TV... you're doing 2 things at once, and this is assuming that you can knit while distracted... So while you're doing the body of the item in question, charge $10 an hour, after all, its only got part of your attention.

For the detail work, like, say, sleeves, or putting it all together, when it has your full attention... Charge $25 an hour for that part.

Balance it out. Because yeah, even with yet another 3 inches of snow on the ground, and I'd love a nice warm hand knit sweater to wrap myself up in right now... I couldn't afford $1000. ;-)Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03459531843513964676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4019901453065101419.post-65833392090238340522010-02-10T09:25:55.387-05:002010-02-10T09:25:55.387-05:00Great post! I've been advised to charge $25 dollars an hour, but do you know anyone who wants to buy a $1000 dollar hand knit cardigan in this economy?Sugar Plum Knitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06780846467704532607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4019901453065101419.post-91614657008187068462010-02-10T08:22:24.728-05:002010-02-10T08:22:24.728-05:00Price point has always been something I've wor...Price point has always been something I've worried about- not because materials, etc cost what they do, but because TIME (i.e. The time invollved w/my crafts, which are NOT soap, heh) is such a huge factor for me. One reason I haven't started selling anything yet.

I eagerly await next week's post!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17337110333189871250noreply@blogger.com
